Dr. Adebayo K. Adedeji: Physician and Cardiologist

Consultant Physician and Cardiologist, FWACP, FMCP.
Dr Adebayo qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1995 and became a Fellow of the West African Post graduate Medical College and the National Post graduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2005. He had his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Dr Adebayo had further training in Cardiology as a World Heart Federation Twin Centre Fellow at the Hospital Complex of the Philipps University, Marburg in Germany in 2003/2004. In 2012, he underwent training in diagnostic coronary angiography and Trans oesophageal Echocardiography at the Frontier Lifeline Hospital, Chennai, India and her affiliated St Gregorios Cardiovascular Centre, Parumala, Kerala, India. He also participated in an echo master class of the Medical University of Vienna, Austria in 2013.

His areas of interest are hypertension and hypertensive heart disease, heart failure, atriology, ischaemic heart disease and preventive cardiology.

Dr Adebayo joined Lagoon Hospital in July 2006 and currently heads the department of Medicine.
He has co-authored many articles and is also a reviewer for many local and international peer review journals. He is a member of the following learned societies:

When he is not doctoring, he relaxes with hymnals and meditates on the scriptures. He is also involved in local missionary work. At other times he watches football and sometimes tries out some tricks on the ball.

Dr. Amaechi: Consultant Physician and Cardiologist

Dr Chris Amaechi qualified from the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife in 2005, with an MBChB degree in Medicine and Surgery. He did his internship at 445, Nigerian Airforce Base Hospital, Ikeja Lagos and 345 Aeromedical Hospital, Kaduna state.
He obtained his Membership certification (MWACP) in 2011 and became a full-fledged Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Cardiology Subspecialty in April, 2016. He is also an Associate Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
Dr Chris Amaechi has attended several workshops and hands-on training including an Intravenous Ultrasound, Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He is a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, Nigerian Cardiac Society and Emirate Cardiology Society.Dr Chris Amaechi has given various lectures to professional groups, both within and outside the fields of medicine.
Dr Chris Amaechi joined Lagoon Hospitals in June, 2016.His areas of interest include Valvular Heart disease, Hypertension, Cardiomyopathies and Cardio-Electrophysiology.
When not consulting, Dr Chris Amaechi enjoys listening to Classical music, watching animated movies and writing short stories.

Dr. Benjamin C. Okere: Obstrician /Gynaecologist

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, FMCOG
Dr. Okere qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1988 and is a 2005 fellow of the Medical College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He was a Senior Registrar of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, between 2002 and 2005; after which he worked briefly as a Consultant with a Fertility Centre in Lagos.

Thereafter, he received an international appointment from the Gambian Ministry of Health as a Consultant and later, Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, Gambia. He was the Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Ministry of Health; and one of five core members that developed the Reproductive Protocol for the Department of Reproductive Health of the ministry. Dr. Okere was also appointed as a part-time lecturer in the School of Medical Sciences, University of The Gambia between 2005 and 2007.

He returned to Nigeria in 2007, and worked as a Consultant with a private hospital in Lagos before joining Lagoon Hospitals since in 2011.

His core interest is in the area of Reproductive Health and he has conducted various following scientific studies some of which include:

Dr. Gafar F Yusuf: Opthalmologist

Consultant Opthalmologist, FMCOpht, FWACS, FICO
Dr Yusuf qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2001 and is a 2010 Fellow of National Postgraduate Medical College, and a 2011 Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. He had his residency training in Ophthalmology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
Dr Yusuf was a Registrar and Senior Registrar at Department of Ophthalmology, Lagos University Teaching Hospital between 2005 and 2010.

He had Vitreoretinal training at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania; and attended a virtual vitreo-retinal course at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, India. He also obtained a Phaco-emulsification Fellowship from Khairabad Eye Hospital, Kanpur India, and was a member of the Venice 2013 Uveitis course. In 2014, he became Member of European Vitreo-Retinal Society after participating in EVRS course.

His major areas of interest are Glaucoma, Cataract, Retinal Disorders and Ophthalmic Lasers.
Dr Yusuf joined Lagoon Hospitals in June 2011.

He has delivered lectures and co-authored various articles. He is a Fellow of International Council of Ophthalmology and a member of the following associations:

Dr. Jerome E. Ohene: Surgeon

Consultant General Surgeon, FWACS
Dr Jerome Ohene graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Jos in 2000 and became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 2009 following residency training at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital.

He worked as a Senior Registrar in General Surgery at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital and as a Consultant General Surgeon/Surgical Endoscopist at Garki Hospital Abuja before joining Lagoon Hospital In January 2011.

His main interests are Endocrine, Gastrointestinal and Minimal Access Surgery and he is routinely exposed to the best practices working with some of the best surgeons in the world. He has attended several workshops and trainings including a Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Workshop at the European Surgical Institute, Hamburg, Germany in 2013 and a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy course at The Surgical Skills Centre, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Lagos, Nigeria in 2011.

He has co-authored several articles published in different peer reviewed journals and he is a member of the Nigerian Medical association and the Society of Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists in Nigeria.


Dr. Kunle F. Ajayi: Obstetrician /Gynaecologist

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, MB;BS, FWACS
Dr Ajayi qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1999 and became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 2010. He had his residency training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

Following this, he did a basic laparoscopy course in hysteroscopy at the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU) at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK in 2011. In addition, he attended a Minimal Access Surgery course at the European Surgical Institute (ESI), Norderstedt, Germany in 2012.

Kunle was a Senior Registrar, Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital from 2007 to 2009; and Chief Registrar from 2009 to 2010.

His core areas of interest include Gynaecological Endoscopy and Reproductive Medicine, as well as the management of high-risk pregnancies.

He joined Lagoon Hospitals in November, 2010.

Kunle is ALS trained and has given various lectures to professional groups. He is a member of the following organizations:

Dr. Olakunle O. Onakoya: Orthopedic Surgeon

Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon; FWACS
Dr. Onakoya obtained his MB;BS from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos in 1984 with a distinction in medical ethics and jurisprudence.
After the mandatory internship and national service years, he started his residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi in 1986. This training involved rotations in Neuro-surgery and Cardio-Thoracic surgery at the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH) in 1990.

He became the Chief Resident of the National Orthopaedic Hospital in 1992, and the following year went on to the UK for further specialist training in the South West Thames Regional Health Trust. Subsequently he worked as a specialist Orthopaedic Registrar at the St. George’s Hospital Tooting Broadway, and at various other hospitals in Surrey and London.
Kunle became ATLS certified in 1994, and went on to become a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 1995.
His areas of interest are Major Limb Trauma and Joint Replacement Surgery.
He joined the services of Lagoon Hospitals in 1986 before proceeding for his post graduate Orthopaedic training. He was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in 1996.
Key positions he has held in Hygeia include Assistant Medical Director, Clinic Network Services (Hygeia HMO); Medical Director, Lagoon Hospital, Apapa, Group Medical Director, Lagoon Hospitals, and he has served on the Board of Hygeia Nigeria Ltd.
Kunle is a 2000 alumnus of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of the Lagos Business School, and in 2010, became a member of the founding class of the Managing Healthcare delivery program of the Harvard Business School.
He has given numerous lectures to various professional bodies and groups; and is a member of the following professional associations:

Dr. Olaleye Olalekan: Obstrician/Gynaecologist

Dr Olaleye is a 2002 graduate of Ibadan Medical School. He obtained the Fellowship of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010 and Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons in 2011 following residency training at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria.

He joined Lagoon Hospitals in 2011.

His areas of interest are Maternal and Fetal medicine.

Dr. Olugbenga M. Daini: Radiologist

Consultant Radiologist, FMCR
Dr. Daini qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1991 and is a 2003 fellow of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria. He had his residency training in general radiology from Lagos University teaching hospital, Lagos Nigeria. Upon qualification, Olugbenga worked as Consultant Radiologist in a diagnostic centre in Lagos before joining the services of the Lagos State Health Management Board as Consultant Radiologist and Head of Department of Radiology at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, Lagos.

While on training at Apollo hospital, India in 2003, he developed interest in vascular sonography and neuroradiology.
Olugbenga is ALS trained. He has co-authored a few articles published in an international peer review journals. He is a member of the following organizations:

>> Association of general private medical practice(AGPMPN)
>> West African college of radiologists.

He joined Lagoon Hospitals as a full time consultant radiologist in 2003.

Dr Daini is an amateur singer and has been in the choir of the chapel of the healing cross since 1988. He loves watching football and wrestling.

Dr. Olujimi A. Coker: Surgeon / GCA

MB;BS (Ibadan), FRCS, FRCS (Gen Surg), FWACS
Consultant Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeon. Chief of Surgery & Group Clinical Adviser, Lagoon Hospitals, Lagos.
Dr Coker qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 1984 and completed his internship at University College Hospital, Ibadan. He had his specialist surgical training in the United Kingdom with basic surgical training in Greater Manchester and higher surgical training in South Yorkshire based around the Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals.
He was appointed Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Northern General Hospital and University of Sheffield in January 1999. In November 1999 he joined Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust as Consultant General Surgeon with specialist interest in Coloproctology and laparoscopic surgery. The same year he became surgical instructor to Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET - UK based charity) with annual visits to Northern Ghana for basic and emergency surgical skills courses. He served as Chairman of the International Development Committee of Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland organizing surgical skills courses in East and West Africa. His research interests include colorectal cancer, surgical endoscopy and surgical education with several publications on these.
In collaboration with Ethicon Johnson and Johnson, he established advanced colorectal workshops at major teaching hospitals in Nigeria that has been running since September 2007. This was then rolled out to other countries in West and East Africa. He was appointed to the THET board of trustees from 2006 - 2010. He was the Royal College of Surgeons Tutor for his trust until 2007 when he became the Program Director for Core Surgical Training in Yorkshire and Humberside Postgraduate Deanery, United Kingdom. In collaboration with Covedien he established the Doncaster anastomosis workshop for surgical trainees in the Yorkshire deanery.
Dr Coker was the Coordinator of the West African College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2011 and received an award at the Golden Jubilee Conference of the West African College of Surgeons (2010) for organizing a surgical outreach programme in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. He is the principal instructor on advanced colorectal surgery at the Nairobi Surgical Skills Centre, University of Nairobi, Kenya with biannual training workshops for East African surgeons.

In January 2011 he left the UK for sabbatical in Lagos, Nigeria to lead the surgical strategy including laparoscopic and colorectal surgery and was appointed Chief of Surgery at Lagoon Hospitals, Lagos. He worked in close collaboration with the Quality Improvement unit to achieve JCI accreditation for Lagoon Hospital in 2011. After his two-year sabbatical, he resigned from the UK National Health Service in December 2012 to take up permanent appointment as Group Clinical Adviser and Chief of Surgery at Lagoon Hospitals.



Dr. Olusegun A. Akinniranye: Intensive Care Medicine & Anaesthesia

Consultant Intensive Care Medicine & Anaesthesia M.B.B.S. D.A. FRCA FFICM
Dr Akinniranye graduated from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in 1983 and did his residency training in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at the Royal London Hospital NHS Trust UK. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1996 and in 2011 became a founding fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, UK.

Segun has been a Consultant with special interest in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trusts Harlow Essex UK since January 2000, intensive care society meeting London, 2012; European Society of Enteral and Parenteral nutrition in Geneva, 2013; and London Intensive care meeting, 2014. He is the National coordinator for international multicentre study on ventilated associated pneumonia, January, 2016.

>> His core interest is in intensive care - looking after critically sick patients with multi- organ failure, trauma patients, and patients with severe infections. Other areas of interest include audit, research and publications, some of which include:

Perioperative analgesia for total knee replacement epidural versus femosciatic block – orthopaedic anaesthesia meeting 2004.

Dr. Simeon Isawunmi: Anaesthestist

Dr Simeon Isawumi is a Consultant Anaesthetist. In 1981, he graduated from Computer and also has an Associate degree in Applied Science from Minneapolis Metropolitan College and Dunwoody Industrial Institute Minneapolis Minnesota, USA. He also attended the University of Ibadan from where he graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1991 and Senior Registrar Anaesthetist at the College of Medicine, UCH, Ibadan, and Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Anaesthesia College of Medicine, Ibadan and has practiced as a Consultant Anaesthetist in some private hospitals in Lagos for past 16years till date.
His areas of interest include:

>> Ambulatory Anaesthesia
>> Critical care medicine.
He is also interested in Telemedicine, Photography and free rural medical/surgical medical development.

Dr. Tomi A. Bamigboje: Allergy and Respiratory Medicine, Neonatology and Haematology

Dr Bamigboje qualified from the University of Ilorin Medical School, Nigeria in 1998. She is a 2011 Fellow of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria and also a member of the West African College of Physicians. She had her residency training in Paediatrics at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria.

Her areas of interest are Allergy and Respiratory Medicine, Neonatology and Haematology.



Olatomi is trained in neonatal resuscitation and is also PALS trained. She has presented papers at various scientific conferences with upcoming publications in peer reviewed journals. She is a member of the following organizations:

Dr Olatomi joined Lagoon Hospitals in August 2011.

Dr Ayeni Omotayo Mofoluwake: Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Dr Ayeni started her medical career upon graduation from the college of health sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife in 2002.
She qualified as a fellow of the West African college of surgeons in October 2014 having satisfied her examiners at the part two examination, faculty of obstetrics and gynaecology where she emerged the best candidate for the particular examination.
Dr Omotayo is also an associate fellow of the national postgraduate medical college of Nigeria.
She has a certificate of training in minimal access surgeries from life specialist institute Nnewi in collaboration with world laparoscopic hospital, India.
Dr Ayeni served in Obafemi Awolowo university teaching hospitals Ile-ife, Bayara general hospital Bauchi, Bauchi state specialist hospital now Abubakar Tafawa Balewa teaching hospital, medical reception centre, directorate of army mapping and survey. She had her residency training at the university of Ilorin teaching hospital, Ilorin.
She is an editor for the rule of thumb in obstetrics and gynaecology, a publication of the Nigerian Christian medical and dental students, Ilorin chapter.
She joined the services of lagoon hospitals in April 2015.
Her special interests are reproductive endocrinology, fetomaternal medicine.
Her research works include:
>> Pregnancy outcome and factors influencing decision to delivery interval for emergency caesarean section in a tertiary hospital in Sub-Sahara Africa
>> Pregnancy outcome in retroviral positive women compared to their seronegative counterparts in Ilorin.
Mofoluwake's desire is to contribute her quota to reduction of maternal mortality in Nigeria which will assist actualisation of millennium development goals (MDG 5).
When Omotayo is not consulting, she enjoys research, teaching, reading books and spending time with her family.


Dr. Olufunmilola. O. James: Radiologist, FMCR.

She qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2004 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2012 following residency training in Radiology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos.
She was a Senior Registrar in the Department of Radiology from 2009 to 2012.

She has core areas of interest in Clinical Research, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Cross-sectional Imaging and Vascular Imaging with emphasis on Doppler Ultrasonography and is a member of European Society of Radiology, American College of Radiology, Radiology Society of North America.

She has co-authored articles which include: Stroke Risk Assessment with Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography in Children with Sickle Cell Disorder, Umbilical Artery Doppler Patterns in Women with Pregnancy Induced Hypertension in Lagos.
She has also given lectures for the Ultrasound Research and Education Society of Nigeria, a Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute (JUREI) global affiliate training centre. She worked with the National Sickle Cell Centre (NSCC) alongside other radiologists helping to kick-start the NSCC Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Ultrasonography Screening Programme, while performing TCD scans and facilitating training during this period.
Dr James joined Lagoon Hospital in April 2014.

In her free time, she is an avid reader, partial towards the thriller and suspense genre; enjoys Sudoku and running and is currently working on increasing her music collection.



Dr. Stella Olubunmi Oyefesobi : Physiotherapist

Dr Oyesfesobi is a Consultant Physiotherapist. She graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, in 1982 and received a Doctorate in Physiotherapy in 2009 from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Her areas of special interest include:
>> Complex post-surgical patients
>> Orthopaedic injuries
>> Chronic pain
>> Neurological disorders.
She is a member of Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (M.R.T.B.). r. Oyefesobi joined Lagoon Hospitals in 2011 and currently heads the Physiotherapy department.

Dr. Mowa Falase: Paediatric

Dr Mowa Falase qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in 1994 and obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK in 2003. She had her paediatric training in various hospitals in the UK including the Southport General Infirmary, Southport, Booth Hall Children's' Hospital, Manchester, and Bradford Royal Infirmary, Bradford with training in Neonatology at the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

Following her training, Dr Falase returned to Nigeria in 2006, and has worked at various hospitals in Lagos before joining Lagoon Hospitals in July 2010. She is Neonatal Resuscitation Training (NRP) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) trained, and has served as a facilitator at the Paediatric Association of Nigeria preconference workshops. She is also a facilitator in Resuscitation Training including BLS and Peadiatric BLS.

Her key areas of interest are Neonatology, Allergies and Asthma. She oversees the hospital's Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and runs a Paediatric Allergy Clinic.

She is a member of the Society for Quality Health Care in Nigeria (SQHN and has been the Medical Director of Lagoon Hospitals since 2012.

When Dr Falase is not consulting, she loves crocheting, beading and working out.

Dr Prof. Segun Abudu: Orthopedic Surgeon

Professor Segun Abudu, is an internationally acclaimed expert with long and established experience in routine and complex orthopaedic surgery.

He is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the prestigious Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, UK and Lagoon Hospital, Nigeria where he runs a nationwide service for the treatment of patients with all forms of orthopaedic problems. correction of major bone deformities, bone and joint infections, revision surgery of failed knee and hip replacements, bone and soft tissue lumps, complex fractures and major bone defects.

Dr Olajide Ojo: Consultant Paediatrician, MBBS, FMCPaed

Dr Olajide Ojo graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Ilorin in 1997 and obtained his Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in 2005. He had his residency training in Paediatrics at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) between 2000 and 2005. He was the best graduating Fellow in his set.

He had training on Neonatal Intensive Care and special care of babies at the Northwick Park Hospital, North London and at the Apollo Hospital, Chennai, India. His areas of core interest include intensive care of babies, particularly preterm babies and neonates; and the management of various clinical conditions in infants and older children.

He was a member of the founding class of the Managing Health Care Delivery, a programme organized by Harvard Business School, Boston.

Olajide is BLS, ACLS, and PALS trained and certified; is a facilitator in Paediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) programmes and has co-authored various articles published in international peer review journals, including:
>> Cardiovascular dysfunction in HIV-infected children in sub-Saharan African countries - comparative cross sectional observational study.
>> Structural heart disease in children in Lagos - profile, problems and prospects.

He joined Lagoon Hospitals in June 2006; and is currently the Medial Director of Lagoon Hospital, Ikeja with responsibility for both the Mother and Child Hospital on Obafemi Awolowo Way, and the Clinic at Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja.
