Paediatrics

We have specialists in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and experts in Paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment. We run weekly clinics across all our sites caring for babies and children who have a wide range of conditions and illnesses. In addition to this, we manage a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is an intensive care unit specializing in the care of ill or premature new-born infants. An NICU is typically directed by one or more neonatologists and staffed by nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician assistants, resident physicians, and respiratory therapists. Many other ancillary disciplines and specialists are available at larger units.

The term neonatal comes from neo, "new", and natal, "pertaining to birth or origin". Lagoon Hospitals is currently the only organisation in Nigeria to provide a 6 bed NICU led by probably the highest calibre of paediatricians in the country, meaning pre-term babies delivered have the highest opportunity of survival and developing into young children.
